Amino acids are the building blocks of proteins, and proteins are the building block of all tissues in the human body. The human body is in a constant state of assembling, breaking down, and using proteins for all functions in the body. Amino acids are essential for life. Some amino acids are not able to be made in the body, and therefore must be obtained solely through diet or dietary supplementation if the diet is not adequate.
